Ramsey interview with Anderson Cooper
[edit]Forenote-Some nutjob named Arthur keeps following me about in these postings and removing them ... esp indicating zero understanding of any of the issues and any of the law... To arthur - get off wiki as you are not competent to edit anything with zero background and worse yet, even sub zero understanding....
In that interview, Ramsey was explaining he did not understand the victims would die and explained that he means that in that video game , when you shoot someone , he gets back up again and again and so it was not clear to him in his shooting of the victims that they would not get back up.
Interview words of Ramsey: << RAMSEY: ... Keep in mind that I didn't understand how life worked at the time. I didn't know that, when you shoot somebody, they don't just get back up.
COOPER: What do you mean?
RAMSEY: I did not understand that if I -- like using myself in using an example, if I pull out a gun and shoot you, there's a good chance that you're not getting back up. You're going to bleed to death and die either right there or on the way to the hospital. And that part of reality didn't click, for whatever reason.
COOPER: I don't know. I think it's just probably hard for some people to believe that you didn't know, you know, dead is dead.
RAMSEY: I -- I based a lot of my knowledge solely on video games.
You shoot a guy in "Doom," and he gets back up. You have got to shoot the things in "Doom" eight or nine times before it dies. And I went with that concept on -- with -- from the video game and added it to life. >>
(And expert shrink talking with Anderson Cooper after the above Ramsey interview , confirmed that teens do not think the same as an adult and that's why they are tried as juveniles [but Evan Ramsey was not, he was tried as an adult].)
And Ramsey asked that teens consider, and should understand, that situations as like the one he went through being taunted endlessly, do change and can get better, and that life moves on past such events -see above interview link.
[To which Anderson Cooper replied after the video showed Ramsey going back to his cell, how peverted Ramsey was, when his statement was clearly entirely logical and an attempt to aid other teens in distress from taunting; so, the only person thinking in a perverted way being Anderson Cooper].
His crime was also profiled on the Court TV series Anatomy of a Crime.
- To call me a nutjob is a personal attack and violates WP:AGF and WP:PA. Please stop. I have addressed in the revert the reasons for it. Arthurrh 23:38, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Equal protection of the law
[edit]As Evan Ramsey was only 16 at the time of the shootings and then at that time he was tried as an adult, and has now served approx. 10 years, he is due release due to the the US Constitution's "equal protection clause".
This clause means simply this, you (the state, the government) can not treat US Citizens differently in different states, different locations, you have to give them all the same treatment.
And as most 16 year olds tried in the US, are treated as juveniles and tried in juvenile courts in most states, and those juvenile receive maximum sentences of usually only up to the time of adulthood or until 21 (even for murder).
And since most such child , teen killers are treated as juveniles, ALASKA CAN NOT single out and treat any one teen DIFFERENTLY from all other teens in the USA and Alaska is required to treate all its teens the same by the equal protection clause, etc.
Maximum security
[edit]In the Anderson Cooper interview, that interview closed with video showing Evan Ramsey going to his cell with its door being closed and that cell appeared to be only approx 4 feet x 6 feet in size. (slightly larger than his bed)
In another violation of both the US Constiution's equal protection and its clause banning torture(see cruel and unusual punishment clause in US Constitution's 8th Amendment) , incaceration for some prisoners in such tiny , extreme small cells violates both clauses;
along e.g. with the practice of never allowing maximum security prisoners out of their cells but e.g. once a week (or even once a month), when other prisoners in maximum security (see Minnisota maximum security practice) are allowed out each day all day long and are only secured at nite time, and during that period out each day, they can jog about a track, shoot basketball, lift weights, take high school and college courses, go to classes as painting class, etc.
Such different treatment and such treatment amounting to torture, are both clearly banned by those US Constition clauses (equal protection clause and clause banning cruel and unusal punishment/ torture).
And so make Evan Ramsey present incaceration illegal.
(note - moving Ramsey from Alaska to Arizona, 100 % away from his family also ensures no family visits at all like ever, as his family is poor)
Merging
[edit]Hi this is Marksdaman, the reason I redirected Bethel High School shooting to Evan Ramsey was because the article was more about the perpetrator (Ramsey) than the school shooting itself. There was much more written about Evan Ramsey's background than the shooting or his sentencing, that's why I redirected Bethel High School shooting to Evan Ramsey. Please respond, thanks.
