Morel
[edit]Morel is a very common French name. It has nothing to do with the mushroom of the same name, or with nightshade. It simply means "moor", a nickname given to those who were brown-skinned, black-haired and dark-eyed. Variants are "Moreau", "Morlon", "Morellet", etc.. It's a bit like the English name "Black" or "Blake".

- It might be a good idea to inform the editors of the Encyclopæedia Britannica about this, then. Unfortunately, Wikipedia relies on verification from such reliable sources, not truth.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 18:51, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
