Note: this represents where the article stands relative to the Good Article criteria. Criteria marked are unassessed

1. Well-written
Noting there is a lot of passive voice in the article, but that's not a major problem for GA purposes.

  • Add in the lead that the age-controversy led to the implementation of an age minimum the next year.
  • Combine some of the short paragraphs in the Participating countries section
  • ...12-year-old Gili Netanel and 11-year-old Nathalie Pâque representing Israel and France respectively;... Add a comma before "respectively"
  • No artists competing in the 1989 contest had previously taken part as lead artists in previous events, however two of the artists had previously performed in the contest in past editions. Add a comma after "however"
  • For the first time Switzerland sent an entry in Romansh... Add a comma after "time"
  • As there were no existing rules regarding the age of performers the two artists were allowed to compete, however the controversy led to the introduction of an age restriction on performing artists for the 1990 contest. Add commas after "performers" and "however"
  • ...both the German and Austrian were written by Dieter Bohlen and Joachim Horn-Bernges. Add "entries" or "songs" after "German and Austrian"
  • ...all dress rehearsals were held in front of an audience, although for the afternoon rehearsal on 5 May the acts were not required to be in their performance costumes. Add a comma after "May"
  • For the 1989 event and for future contents an analysis of the tied countries' top marks would be conducted, with the country that received the most 12 point scores being declared the winner. Add a comma after "contests" and remove the second "for"
  • The contest took place on 6 May 1989 at 21:00 (CEST) with a duration of 3 hours and 10 minutes and presented by Jacques Deschenaux and Lolita Morena. Add "was" before "presented"
  • During the traditional winner's reprise performance Riva sung the winning song entirely in English. Add a comma after "performance"

2. Verifiable
The sources used are reliable. Copyvio check passed.

  • The links on ref. 3, 61 and 65 are down.
    • I have fixed ref 3 to ensure it targets the right area. I can confirm that ref 61 link does work if you have an active subscription to the newspaper. Ref 65 appears to have been repointed by another editor to a live link with the same newspaper collection. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 10:32, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Spot check:

  • 25:Although postcards appeared from time to time in the 70s and 80s, they gained particular prominence from the 1990s onward. This source doesn't note that the postcards were used in 1989 specifically.
  • No issues: 1, 4, 8, 10, 14, 17, 28, 32, 40, 46, 50, 55, 78, 85

3. Broad
The article covers the major aspects of the event without unnecessary detail.

4. Neutral
The article is neutral.

5. Stable
The article is stable day-to-day, and there are no ongoing content disputes.

6. Illustrated
Images used are in the public domain or are free use, and they have appropriate captions.

  • The alignment of the image in the Location section with one word below it should be fixed.
    • Given the infobox and other images and templates which are right-align on this article in subsequent sections I would be hesitant to move this image to right align as well. I'd like to avoid a situation where multiple images appear sequentially and end up floating to outside of their relevant sections as much as possible. If you have any suggestions on how to alter the image to achieve a better result without altering the alignment I am happy to work with you, but I also know that different display sizes will mean the image may not be as much of an issue on some devices; on my display (1396 x 785) as an example the second paragraph continues past the image for two lines.
