European vs Baltic flounder

[edit]

There is currently some ambiguity regarding whether Platichthys solemdali is distinct from P. flesus at the level of species. I gather that it probably is at least a separate taxon, but I am not going to edit because I don't know if the science is adequately settled. Hopefully someone with ichthyological expertise will edit to make it consistent, and address any controversy if significant. The page for Baltic flounder (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltic_flounder) treats them as separate species, so if that is not the way it goes on this page, the other should be edited as well so that they are consistent. Also, IUCN status should be added to the Baltic flounder page if the species is recognized by IUCN.--Harry Meanwell (talk) 03:06, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
