Dubious
[edit]From a bit of reading, I think Euler-Rodrigues parameters are not synonymous with Unit Quaternions, as suggested here. --Yoderj (talk) 21:01, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Historically, the Euler-Rodrigues parameters predate the theory of quaternions. However, the structure they define is the same as that of unit quaternions. Therefore the four E-R parameters of a rotation can be viewed as the components of a unit quaternion. In that sense they are synonymous. Arjenvreugd (talk)

[edit]As I reorganized and expanded this article, I realized that a page on the Euler-Rodrigues formula was missing. It is referenced in various places (e.g. in the article on SO(4)), but it deserves a page of its own. Therefore I created this page, and filled it with content similar to this one.
As a result, this page (on the parameters functioning in the E-R formula) has become redundant. I suggest that "Euler-Rodrigues parameters" becomes redirected to "Euler-Rodrigues formula". Arjenvreugd (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 04:27, 9 July 2011 (UTC).
