POV?

"Though never charged with any act of espionage, Dennis was identified in the Venona project as being a source for Soviet intelligence during World War II, when the United States and Soviet Union were officially allies."

While I appreciate that the above is correct, and that the Red Scare era was a particularly distasteful time in our history, the fact that the U.S. and Soviet Union were "officially allies" during the time of Mr. Dennis alleged (now arguably proven) attempts to provide the Soviets with intelligence does nothing to obviate the fact that his efforts were a crime. Our allies do receive intelligence from our government - I know, because I used to be in the military, and I worked in an office which disseminated selected intelligence data to several allies in the Pacific Command - in my case it was Korea and Australia. However, it is the right of every government to decide which intelligence information is to be shared with one's allies, and which intelligence is to be withheld. When an "operative" takes it upon himself to dole out information without first obtaining that permission, he is committing treason. And this is precisely what Mr. Dennis did. I agree that this is POV. In Wikipedia terms, however, the biggest problem is that it is original research WP:OR. The editor merely cited original sources, and gave his/her personal commentary on those sources. --Nbauman (talk) 02:14, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
