In the Dutch media there are mini-biographies about his life with information about his dedication to his job (working 6 days a week, never took one day off due to illness) and the advise he gave to US presidents in regard to the black community. Note-worthy enough to include, but does anyone know any sources? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.173.144.2 (talk) 08:45, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

I'm assuming the 8th president would be HW Bush, who was VEEP when Allen retired. Though not sure why a WH butler would "serve" the VEEP in any sense more than he may have served the VEEP's son at some point at a dinner or something. Not to diminish his legacy, but it should be 7 presidents... Ike, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.119.183.254 (talk) 19:16, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

He started working at the white house during the Harry Truman presidency in 1952 that makes it 8. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:5B0:24FF:3CF0:0:0:0:33 (talk) 17:33, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Table incomplete

[edit]

Shouldn't both his wife Helene and his son Charles be listed in the table? Family is generally listed there, I believe.Abitslow (talk) 09:15, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Birth place

[edit]

We have sources for two different birth places, Buckingham County, VA[1] and Scottsville, Virginia[2]. Kendall-K1 (talk) 16:42, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
