Plates of snails
[edit]Is this plate http://www.sil.si.edu/imagegalaxy/imageGalaxy_enlarge.cfm?id_image=6411 from the 1890-1901 book Land and Freshwater Mollusca by Eduard von Martens made by Amaury Duval? First 15 plates in the book are made by "Eug. Duval" and other next ones are made by Fr. H. v. Zglinicka. On the page 655 there is written that "Plates I.-XV. are made by E. Duval, and the others by Fr. H. v. Zglinicka, both of Berlin;" If this is a different painter, what is his date of the death to know, if these plates are public domain or not. (I also do not know such dates for the second painter.) --Snek01 (talk) 12:11, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
