dates of the earliest Eudromaeosauria

[edit]

The earliest Eudromaeosauria is given as 143m years ago. However the earliest Velociraptorinae is given as 151m years ago. My understanding is that the former is a clade including all the latter, given that there is an inconsistency with these dates CptPugwash (talk) 22:57, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Proposals

[edit]

Support: The exact internal topology of eudromaeosauria is contentious to say the least. The three subfamilies are consistently found to include wildly different taxa based on which matrix is used. The only non-eponymous taxa that have stable placement in the dromaeosaur family tree are Kuru and Shri I believe. All other taxa have been found to have multiple possible classifications. In order to consolidate this discussion to a single place, rather than dispersed across 3-4 pages (WP:KEEPCONCISE, WP:REDUNDANT), I propose this merge. Furthermore, the large degree of uncertainty in the composition of the three subfamilies proposed for the merge poses neutrality issues. There is basically no scientific consensus about where these taxa go, other than within Eudromaeosauria, so a merge is the most neutral position (WP:NPOV, WP:N). I am working on a draft of the proposed merge in my sandbox here. A Cynical Idealist (talk) 07:38, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have updated the page to include all the requisite information from Velociraptorinae, Dromaeosaurinae, and Saurornitholestinae. The merge is now ready to execute if supported. A Cynical Idealist (talk) 08:23, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
