books?
[edit]I would be very interested to know how a US General became interested in Alchemy, Shakespeare's sonnets etc. Could someone add something about this? Hitchcock's book about Alchemy influenced Silberer and Jung in the 20th Century when they explored Alchemy and Mysticism in psychological terms. ThePeg 19:16, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think that you will find that most of the editors of the Wikipedia American Civil War articles are interested primarily in the military aspects of their subjects. In this case, we are merely transcribing a list of works from a military biography. However, the external link to the article from the Corpus Christi library gives a lot more information about the subjects of his books, while not delving deeply into why he was interested. Fair enough. But you can see why I'm interested. How many military men do you know who delve into things like Alchemy and Literature? Alchemy in particular - especially since his book on Alchemy became the prototype for later researches by important psychologists? Anyway, shouldn't an article on an individual cover all their activities? ThePeg 20:46, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sure. Feel free to add to the article. Hal Jespersen 21:30, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
I have added an alchemy section to the article.Balance2214 20:59, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Court martial
[edit]The problem with the court martial is that we have neither (last time I looked) a footnote in the other article nor one here. BTW the footnote must be in both places not one. Each article must stand on its own merits, not derivative scholarship from another article with different editors and a different editorial history. The scholarly work must not only confirm that he sat on the court but that it was prejudicial. The latter is more important than the court martial itself. You might even comment in that fact that the prejudice is confirmed by scholarly researcch. Thanks. Student7 (talk) 21:14, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
