reinstating removed text
[edit]This edit removed two substantial (largely negative) pieces of text.
- "However, in April 2001, financial pressures prompted a move. At that time, the annual general meeting which had been planned for 31st March was deferred."
- "On 2002-05-04, the AGM was finally held after a two-year gap. Issues raised by delegates included an acknowledgment of the small membership, and a suggestion of not relying on "number of members" alone as an indicator of strength of the organisation. In each of the 2003 and 2004 AGMs, a minute's silence was held to mark the members who had died during the past year."
It appears from sources: [1] and [2] that the above was all true. On the first point, I am going to reinstate the point about the move being due to financial pressures, given the source on the BBC website. On the second point, reading through the reports of the AGMs, it does indeed seem that declining membership is a recurrent issue, but inclusion of selected snippets from AGM reports is bound to lead to arguments about whether the overall balance is representative. Instead I will simply add an external link to the AGM reports, and people can decide for themselves. — Alan✉ 12:19, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
