Pricing Information
[edit]Hi Kipoc,
Price of espadrilles varies wildly worldwide and people are highly interested to get pricing information of espadrilles naturally. So, External Links containing prices from Manufacturers' level to Retail level could be included at the page to meet the demand of users. This is not for advertising purpose obviously.
Cheers!

- The pages are primarily commercial in nature - they do not exist as a pure information source for comparative espadrille pricing. As it stands, the external links I removed provided no real information and exist only to sell a product. As such, reinstating those specific links doesn't seem appropriate in my opinion. Kipoc (talk) 06:52, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Kipoc, it would be appreciated if you can take some time to add a paragraph regarding comparison of prices when you don't like to display externel links with prices.117.18.224.169 (talk) 07:27, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Linking the external sites to pricing comparison is not a valid argument in my opinion. Aside fromt hat, I don't know enough about Espadrilles to be able to accurately provide pricing comparisons, so such a section is not something I'd be able to create/edit. I'd be doubtful if a pricing comparison would be appropriate for an encyclopedia. Also, I'd suspect that such information, particularly if the comparison was global, would be extremely open to fluctuation. Kipoc (talk) 07:53, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Sellers who are selling at high prices never wants that people know other sellers who are selling same products at low prices. So, high price sellers would like to pay editors to remove externel links from the Wikipedia. Blocking knowledge must not be the policy of an encyclopedia. Little learning is a dangerous thing and editors without sufficient knowledge are also dangerous for mankind. Senior editors of Wikipedia should notice the activities of User:Kipoc carefully. Major69 (talk) 06:39, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Right, well sorry to say but I think that's weak. The fact remains that, as much as you twist the reason for their presence on the web, the links do not provide a knowledge source so their removal is 1) not blocking knowledge and 2) entirely per WP policy. The vague suggestion or insinuation that I am being paid (what a job that would be!) to remove external links is laughable, as is the dangerous for mankind ending. Thanks for making me smile! In the meantime, should you have the knowledge yourself to expand the article in an encyclopedic and appropriate manner, go right ahead - Also, please check out WP:EL to understand wikipedia policy on External Links. Without the names of Pare Gabia, Cotheeka, Espadrillesetc, an article on Espadrille is incomplete jute like the names of IBM, Apple for PC and Ford, Mercedes Benz, Chevrolet, Rolls-Royce_(car) etc. for an article on Car. So, it is clear that User:Petertoledo paid User:Kipoc to remove the names of industry leaders that he considered his competitors. It is a shame for WP project that jobless boys are assigned as editors who can be purchased very easily at low cost. I assume more money will make him remove Donna Karen from the article also! :-)) Major69 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 04:14, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Could someone please add close-up image, to better see what these look like? Muad (talk) 20:44, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- I second that. The current picture is not useful at all, considering you can't see what they even look like. I'd add a picture myself but I don't own any. - Cyborg Ninja 04:57, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Many people use espadrilles?
[edit]I'm from the Basque Country and not many people use espadrilles. I mean, this year is kind of "trendy" to wear heels with espadrilles but they have never been used much apart from very old people who still live in farmhouses and to dance tradicional dances. Honestly, I think that part should be changed. --79.144.166.85 (talk) 19:31, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Spam: Viscata
[edit]Bearing similarity (but no other relation, as far as I can tell) to earlier discussions about adding external links to manufacturers'/vendors' websites, there have been repeated efforts to add spam links to 'Viscata' in the body of the article and in the See Also section. I get the impression that the anonymous users involved (most recently User:79.145.34.75) aren't aware of how Wikipedia works, and while links to Viscata or other manufacturers should be considered spam, I wanted to add a topic here to try to engage with these users and explain why these links are not relevant or desirable in the article.Tomclarke (talk) 07:05, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
