Talk:Escape from Woomera/Archive 1
Cleanup
[edit]I think this article could stand some improvement- at present, most of the text is composed of direct quotes from the game's creators, and what little original text there is is somewhat repetitive. Redeagle688 05:02, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
The link to the game site is also dead, obviously a cybersquatter. Found the download after some searching here: http://files.filefront.com/Escape_from_Woomera/;4915450;;/fileinfo.html
Game page is now archived at selectparks - I've linked to the official archive and added more references. If someone would like to grab some more context to improve the article, those refs would be a good place to start. Strange statement
[edit]"The make-up of the team behind Escape From Woomera was considered key to the concept. The project brought professional game developers together with "game artists" and an investigative journalist."
This statement strikes me as odd. As a professional game developer whose job title is essentially "Game Artist" I find it even confusing. Perhaps the intention was to state that the project brought together Professional developers with Mod Artists. Or perhaps the statement was meant as descriptive of a team that included scripters and artists, otherwise employed as Game Developers.--Senor Freebie (talk) 23:47, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- Project team is listed on Julian Oliver's archived version of the original site[1]. The Alternative Media Handbook (Routledge) I cited elsewhere on this page lists Katharine Neil as Creative Director. Additional resource
[edit]Unfortunately I don't have time to include this properly at the moment, however note that "The Alternative Media Handbook By Kate Coyer, Tony Dowmunt, Alan Fountain, Routledge 2007 [1] contains an case study regarding Escape From Woomera from page 172 onwards. It has some excellent material on the political environment in Australia at the time the game was developed and a discussion of the context of funding, creative development etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ross bencina (talk • contribs) 12:48, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
