Wrong title on article

[edit]

Ernst David (printer) was born in 1932 and is not the subject of this article. Ernst David (musical instrument maker) was born in 1864, is not the same person, and was not also a printer. See the German Wikipedia. TooManyFingers (talk) 20:33, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I changed this myself. TooManyFingers (talk) 20:51, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

9 March 2013: disambiguation error

[edit]

On 9 March 2013, this article's title was changed from "Ernst David" to "Ernst David (printer)", apparently to disambiguate him from a non-notable soldier with the same name. But this article was never about a printer! There is a potentially notable printer, born in 1932, but he is unrelated to this article and we don't currently have an article about him.

(Note that the German Wikipedia has a fuller article on the instrument maker – showing that at no time in his career did he take up printing – and a separate article on the printer, and nowhere is any relationship indicated.)

I suggest a couple of things:

1. Remove all traces of "Ernst David (printer)" from the English Wikipedia until such time as we have an article about him. In particular, "Ernst David (printer)" must not redirect to this article, because they never had anything to do with each other and were just mistakenly conflated one day in 2013. "Ernst David (printer)" should definitely be a red link, not a redirect to anywhere.

2. Consider also removing the redirects for the non-notable soldier. "Ernst David (soldier)" used to be an article, but it became clear that he was not notable and the article no longer exists. If that redirect is in fact frequently used, then of course keep it. TooManyFingers (talk) 20:06, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
