Datos falsos

[edit]

No existe la Eritrean Catholic Church. No es verdad que haya sido creada la archieparquía de Asmara, que sigue siendo eparquía sufragánea de Addis Abeba. Borro esos datos falsos. Saludos.--Nerêo (talk) 00:04, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's settled now. Pope Francis erected the metropolitan Church "sui iuris" of Eritrea in January 2015. Gugganij (talk) 19:48, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

only one church?

[edit]

I like the article and it makes sense. I am wondering if the following is a mistake. "According to a January 19 announcement from the Holy See Press Office, Pope Francis has separated the four Eritrean eparchies (dioceses) from the Ethiopian Catholic Church and has created a new metropolitan sui iuris church for Eritrea," taken from http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=23765 The article I got this from seems to be implying that now there are two entities: the Metropolia, and the Eritrean Catholic Church. If I have read your article correctly (i.e. the Wiki article) these are the same thing, which has been elevated to the status sui iuris. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 00:11, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

membership

[edit]

"its membership includes inhabitants of Eritrea." This sentence could mean a few things. First, the theological position that all souls belong to the Church, and so all souls in Eritrea belong to the Church in Eritrea. It could also mean "Its membership includes inter alii inhabitants of Eritrea." It could also mean "This is the official Catholic Church in Eritrea, so all Eritrean Catholics belong to this church." I think, from reading the rest of the article, and especially the point about this being the only country where all Catholics, including Latins, belong to an Eastern Church. I suggest rewriting the sentence to show this more clearly. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 00:23, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
