Conflict of Interest/Acting in Good Faith Declaration
[edit]I have been the primary editor of this page to date. I am associated with Erin Weir and thus may be perceived as having a conflict of interest. I recognize that Wikipedia values NPOV and I will do my best to edit this article with that principle.
I would note that I neither created the page, nor participated in the discussion to delete. I have also never removed information placed on the page by any other editor. SKL688 (talk)
I made the nomination for neutrality check
[edit]I think the facts are okay, but some parts read a bit like an advertisement. Could they be toned down a little bit?
Language like "His commitment and dedication to his studies..." sound promotional in nature.
"many honours" -- how many is many?
"Erin is an accomplished writer and essayist" - how is that determination made? Why "accomplished"? Isn't "essayist" sufficient?
Also, what "reference books"? They could either be esteemed or marginal reference books. I'm not sure.
Again, I think the article is generally fine, but some of the language could be pulled back a bit, perhaps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.165.36.130 (talk) 19:20, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
- This seems to have been addressed over the years; none of the above offending sentences are in the article at this point. A quick perusal of the history shows multiple edits toning down the language. I'm going to go ahead and remove the POV check template. — Kawnhr (talk) 01:50, 12 May 2018 (UTC)

Political Party Designation
[edit]Why is the CCF listed as his political party when they haven't existed for 60 years? This is misleading. I know he chose that affiliation in the House, but MPs can chose any affiliation. If a MP choses to affiliate with a non-existing organization, that doesn't mean said non-existing organization becomes existing. It's fine to note his choice to affiliate with the CCF in the body of the article, but including it in the infobox, where people will be seeking info about membership in actual, real political parties. The inclusion of the "CCF" there is misleading and the edit reversion by Saxones288 should be undone. 108.26.146.175 (talk) 15:41, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
- As the note says: "Though the CCF was dissolved in 1961, the House of Commons does not require that a party be registered with Elections Canada for the purposes of MPs declaring affiliation."
The CCF is not listed as Weir's political party, but rather as his political affiliation.
I should also mention that this consensus was reached years ago for the page 42nd Canadian Parliament.Saxones288 (talk) 03:11, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
