Notability
[edit]- I believe this artist meets several of the Music Notability criteria.
- "5. Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media"
- Erik was featured in Le Journal de Montréal
- Erik was written about in Journal Espagnol Granada
- "7. Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or of the local scene of a city;"
- Erik Mongrain is one of the most prominent musicians to play in this fairly new style
- As stated by Journal Espagnol Granada
"the visitor (to Grenada) ... discovers rather good musicians, sometimes brilliant, who makes a pure delight of the city... Erik Mongrain, 21 years old, is one of them... The young interpreter does not play in a habitual manner but rather lays the guitar on his knees like a keyboard ... before discovering this new method, known under the name of "tapping", he studied classical guitar on his own
- "10. Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show."
- Erik's music is going to be featured in a documentary produced by Lance Trumbull for the Everest Peace Project
- "5. Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media"

Hi Mdhandley - those points should be included in the article. Citing sources for WP:V. Thanks, MidgleyDJ 09:45, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help. I added those points, and the citations, and removed the tag. Mdhandley 09:56, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- I created this article then it was deleted! Thanks for reinstating it. --Charlie Huang 【正矗昊】 16:39, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- Is the Guild Guitars link on the bottom of the page SPAM? --kirkio 2:01, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like it coz it seems to have nothing to do with him (even if it does, there must be something on its pages that mention him)... --Charlie Huang 【正矗昊】 22:41, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
What's going on with this? I somehow got here from the acoustic guitar article. Reading the article so far, I see no proof of notability. It seems like it was going to be done 7 months ago but nobody got around to it. Any progress here? Wikidan829 03:50, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- I unfortunately agree. Toddst1 (talk) 17:04, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Categories
[edit]The categories that this artist has been placed are pre-categories that are not meant to include articles, but rather organize sub-categories. He could be in Category:Canadian guitarists or more specifically Category:Canadian rock guitarists or Category:Canadian alternative guitarists. – Heaven's Wrath Talk 05:06, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- What the fuck? Erik Mongrain is NOT alternative rock! He's new age and world smart ones! That's what it says on his myspace! Jesus, how stupid are you? --ForestAngel 04:37, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Please note, these pages are for talking about ideas. Using profanity and verbal attacks because others have less information, or interpret things differently will not win points on the article. I think you have a lot to offer, but please, interact with kindness. (You know, the old saying, "You can catch more flies with honey..." that kind of thing ;) Thanks! --leahtwosaints (talk) 14:23, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Garish and ugly
[edit]I think the number of clips on this article as opposed to the amount of text that should be here is garish and ugly. Please expand the text, and solid references, and don't make the page look like clutter with an unnecessary number of clips and photos compared to the size of the page. If someone is attempting to show the progression of a person's appearence over time, or their prowess on an instrument, again, over time--- say, in a lengthy article that shows the breadth of a person's career, like The Beatles, or Stevie Wonder, yes, I can see that. But this I think, with all due respect, is too much, too soon. I thought for now, "Air Tap!" was a great addition.--leahtwosaints (talk) 18:17, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. A few examples of his music can be included (I would recommend "Fates", "Equilibrium", and "Air Tap!"), but there are far too many at the moment. Also, the image of Mongrain at the bottom next to the list of sources is completely useless and should be removed.--Sem;colon (talk) 23:04, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
