Promotion
[edit]As of today, he is the new Pentagon chief of staff,[1] but I'm not sure if that position is currently listed on Wikipedia. --GentlemanGhost (converse) 23:53, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
- He was "chief of staff" to the secretary of defense. Like number one right-hand aide. It's mentioned. I don't think the position merits a WP entry itself. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 01:18, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
So his credentials are zero military service himself and an undergrad degree in history? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.49.25.194 (talk) 00:37, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- Compare with his predecessor John M. McHugh. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 01:23, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]For consistency, I added the office of Acting United States Secretary of the Air Force. If we list Acting Under Secretary of the Army this should appear as well, it's a more important position. Hekerui (talk) 08:23, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
Partner
[edit]I don't see any indication that Fanning has a husband or partner. Just "boyfriend". He lives with Ben, but hasn't used a word to characterize their relationship. See Eric Fanning Thanks Boyfriend For 'Patience At Home' During Confirmation Process Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 23:28, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hey Bmclaughlin9, an IP editor keeps adding Ben Masri-Cohen as his domestic partner. He or she refuses to cite a source, and I don't like to even approach 3RR or have to rely on the BLP exemption. It's obvious this is factual, though, and I believe On Top magazine has editorial oversight and would make a reliable source. What do you think about it being in the infobox as "domestic partner" versus being in the article? Again, it does not indicate husband or partner. MisterRandomized (talk) 00:40, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- The term "domestic partner" is a specific legal status, so I don't think it works. The way to handle this is a sentence citing the article, naming the boyfriend, and quoting Fanning a bit to indicate what he implies about their relationship. But no legal relationship means nothing in the infobox. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 01:55, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
