- Article is new enough, long enough, and appropriately sourced. Copyvio free as far as I can tell. Images seem to be appropriately licensed. Hook facts are interesting. AGF on sources I cannot access and/or those that are in Polish. For ALT0, which I prefer from a hookiness perspective, the article needs to state that the bombs were brought to use against the march; that is implied but not directly stated. Also, the picture is of the 2018 march, but the bomb was in 2019; so perhaps the hook should say "(2018 march pictured)" and add 2019 to the hook, to make it clear the bomb target is not the one pictured? Vanamonde, Thanks for your review, I've made the requested change to the article. To alleviate your concerns here is ALT0b: (t · c) buidhe 22:01, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- ALT0b ... that a married couple brought homemade explosives to use against the 2019 LGBT equality march (2018 march pictured) in Lublin, Poland?
- Thanks, good to go. Striking ALT0 to avoid confusion. I would prefer ALT0b, but will leave the final choice up to the promoter. As Buidhe says above, I would strongly recommend this for a picture hook. Vanamonde (Talk) 22:10, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- I think ALT1 and ALT2 are better, particularly ALT2, as it shows the government-level action instead of some nutjob-level action. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:09, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote ALT2 per Piotrus's suggestion. But the QPQ has already been used for Template:Did you know nominations/Statue of Robert Baden-Powell, London. Yoninah (talk) 20:05, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah, Good point. I will use Template:Did you know nominations/Plav-Gusinje massacres (1912-13). (t · c) buidhe 20:12, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you. QPQ done. Restoring tick for ALT2. Yoninah (talk) 20:16, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
Name
[edit]Shouldn't this be under pride parades in Poland? The term is used in some sources: [1], [2], [3]. Even if the Polish term translates as "equality march", the English term is pride parade, not equality march, which is just a Polish synonym. Consider this: "Pride parades in Germany are often called Christopher Street Days - named after the street where the Stonewall Inn was located." But I don't think that the list of pride parades in Germany should be under Christopher Street Days or such; this would make a decent redirect but I think we should be consistent with the naming, and WP:USEENGLISH. This article is a list of pride parades in Poland (also known as equality marches). PS. Google hits for "pride parades in Poland": 47k, "Equality marches in Poland": 1k (even with the wiki and its mirrors). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:59, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- I think it’s correct, look --> Parady i marsze równości w Polsce[4] = Equality Parades and marches in Poland - GizzyCatBella🍁 10:06, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- I think this is mostly a case of inaccurate headlines; the NYT piece correctly calls the Warsaw march "Equality Parade" in the body of the article. The first sentence of the CNN article: "A Polish city celebrated its first-ever LGBTQ equality march on Saturday, but it struck a starkly different tone to the joyous and hedonistic affairs associated with pride parades." The Reuters piece does incorrectly use "pride" throughout. (t · c) buidhe 10:40, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
- This is a tough one. Usually I would say use the generalized English name and then explain what they are called in Poland. My concern is that in this case "parade" would be a misnomer for the majority of the marches. It looks like the Warsaw march has reached enough of a critical mass to be called a parade but the other marches seem closer to protests. I guess it comes down to whether you think "pride parade" is a proper noun that encompasses smaller events as well.AlmostFrancis (talk) 19:28, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- Wow, I’m agreeing with AlmostFrancis on something here, got to note this into my calendar. By the way AlmostFrancis, what about my broken dentures??? - GizzyCatBella🍁 19:39, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
