- from ncbi Taxonomy you have 163 and not 99 (Epinephelus). so what is true ? 109.64.141.147 (talk) 11:41, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
- the Hyporthodus haifensis is the correct Binomial name for what Epinephelus haifensis. Hyporthodus haifensis.79.182.141.67 (talk) 09:41, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]Hybrid grouper is about the hybridisation of two species of Epinephelus, namely E. fuscoguttatus and E. lanceolatus. While this is quite probably a notable achievement on the part of the scientists concerned, I'm not certain that it warrants its own article yet. I think it would, however, form a nice little section on this article. Ka Faraq Gatri (talk) 17:38, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- Weak Support: I generally support the proposal because, as you say, the Hybrid grouper article probably isn't long enough to warrant its own article. However I feel that it would require a major overhaul of this article so that it isn't just a huge list of wikilinks, especially since so many of them are red links, to prevent it looking too out of place. --Mrmatiko (talk) 20:03, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- Comment Most of the red links seem to be links to species in the genus. I've seen elsewhere a separate list article created where a genus has a large number of species (for example, List of Agaricus species, fungi, I realise, but the principle is there). Perhaps that would be an appropriate thing for this article? Ka Faraq Gatri (talk) 21:43, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm going ahead and removing this proposal, as it's stale. From the point of view of biology articles, a hybrid fish isn't significant. However, it may be significant for food and food production, as in different types of oranges, breeds of cattle, etc. - Wikidemon (talk) 09:43, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
