I believe this redirect could be deleted altogether. Epic metal isn't necessarily power metal; take Candlemass for example. They are epic doom metal, not power metal. Any genre can be epic with the right lyrical theming and atmosphere. Redirecting to Viking metal would be a bad idea; metal can be epic without viking themes. --GVOLTT 23:31, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Last.fm has convincing definition: see Epic metal. They describe epic metal as a genre defined by lyrics (just as christan metal) rather than by music characteristics.--Garret Beaumain (talk) 17:51, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
