"effectively seal off Mordor from invasion on three sides"
As far as I'm familiar with the LotR, initial, and, due to the work of men, the use of ephel duath more expressed in shape was to serve as a shield pointed outwards in face of Mordor, not to seal it off. Even though that at the "present time"(within the trilogy) it infact does seal it off from an invasion, it's first use should be noted. --PrimEviL05:49, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
