Relation to general sociology?
[edit]I would argue that environmental sociology is a 'branch of sociology' rather than a 'branch of sociology (interdisciplinary)'. Perhaps a fine distinction, but from the beginning, environmental sociologists positioned themselves within and in dialog with the main stream of the discipline, calling for 'bringing the environment back in' to sociological theory and practice. Updating, internationalizing needed
[edit]This article is a good start, but incomplete and dated. In four decades, environmental sociology has developed and flourished well beyond its early roots, which are highlighted here. Today, there are environmental sociologists actively engaged in scholarship, teaching and policy-related studies on every continent. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 11:28, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Relation to Sociology of natural resources
[edit]In the history of environmental sociology, another thread that, in my view, should be developed in this article is the relation between environmental sociology and the Sociology of natural resources. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 11:38, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
