The result of the move request was Procedural close — It appears that someone took it upon himself to move the article without allowing the process to continue to it's conclusion. Since the move was simply done I'm closing the discussion about it without prejudice. Feel free to start another movereq if this move was indeed controversial.

Nonagram → Enneagram — Be consistent with how we name things. Do we call a 5-pointed star a pentagram or a quintagram?? Do we call a 6-pointed star a hexagram or a sexagram?? Georgia guy (talk) 18:12, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- Please don't ... yet. See extensive Talk:Enneagram. 99% typing in "enneagram" would expect to find Enneagram of Personality or Fourth Way Enneagram; 1% would expect the geometric figure. Enneagram is currently a disambiguation page. Esowteric+Talk 18:21, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- History of 'Enneagram' article: we've already been through a lengthy cycle in which geometry was added to the original article; then the original "occult content was moved" and the article effectively "hijacked" by this minority use. Esowteric+Talk 19:19, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

- OK, your suggestion Enneagram (shape) is a possibility. My only reservation is that I don't want folk to end up at the geometric figure when they're looking for the enneagram of personality (which they routinely call the "enneagram") or the enneagram used in the Fourth Way (which they also call the "enneagram"). I'd at least like a clear disambiguation page at Enneagram for these uses and for the geometric shape (which is a minor, minor use if as Jayen466 suggests you do a google search on "enneagram"). Esowteric+Talk 18:53, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- Jayen466's suggestion was that the Enneagram article was used for the most popular use: enneagram of personality, btw. Esowteric+Talk 19:11, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- For better or worse, the personality enneagram is by far the most common use of the word in google books: [1] So it makes sense that user entering the word as a search term should either find that type of information at enneagram, or a disambiguation page. Either way, I think Enneagram (shape) could work for the nine-pointed star shape used in architecture, geometry etc. JN466 20:55, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- I've got to be honest, I'm into analysis, not algebra or geometry, and I'm not absolutely sure what these figures are called, but I'm pretty sure that non- is the more common prefix in mathematics. I've never seen enneagram until someone showed me the personality stuff. Enneagram (shape) is okay, I guess, but the main page should be left as a disambiguation, in my opinion. Irbisgreif (talk) 22:28, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- The prefix "ennea-" is correct, but the reason why we don't often see it is because "nona-" is more well-known. And now, there are some mathematical articles about the nonagon, saying that the correct name is enneagon but nonagon is more common. Perhaps we could move the geometric text back from nonagram to enneagram and put hatnotes at the top. --Professor Fiendish (talk) 01:47, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Enneagram (shape) is fine by me. --Professor Fiendish (talk) 02:06, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Excellent, and thanks everyone for the suggested move and for doing the moving. Esowteric+Talk 08:28, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

The move wasn't as controversial as the proposer believed it would be. Irbisgreif (talk) 23:00, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
