Article length and possible spin-offs
Dear Wikipedians, given the long history of this aircraft, numbers built and number of operators, this article has grown to a considerable length. As with similarly notable aircraft, it may be appropriate to consider moving some of its sections with long lists to their own articles. I propose to create list-articles for "Operators" and "Preserved aircraft", leaving just a brief section with the link in this "parent" article. Hope there is no concerns with this approach. Regards, DPdH (talk) 08:27, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Looks pretty good to me; it'd have to go through peer review to get to higher status, anyway. Karl Dickman talk 05:42, 18 January 2007 (UTC) |

Wing sweep angles
Hello, the article says "Outboard of the engine nacelles, the wing has a leading edge sweep of 4° and trailing edge sweep of −14°." Those numbers have been there since an edit in 2006 (and currently, of course, mirrored on numerous web pages). However, to my eye the sweep angles look more like 13° and -20°. Can't find any source except the ortographic projection picture though. I tend to believe my own eyes, not a sourceless edit from 2006. A bold fix coming up. --Micraboy (talk) 06:40, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- I've reverted your bold edits, but added a citation needed tag. User:Emt147 was a good aviation user, so I trust he had a reliable source he didn't cite. Photos aren't reliable sources of themselves, and measuring the angle on an orthographic projection is original research. Either way, we do need cite a reliable source. - BilCat (talk) 07:38, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- I measured the angles on a fairly large scale accurate drawing and make them +14 and -20. It looks very much like the original editor left the number '1' out by mistake and/or possibly mixed the figures up. Hopefully someone with a Canberra monograph can correct it and provide the cite. - In the article text we could anyway have angles that are closer to the truth. Now we are pretty wide off. Almost any photograph tells the eye that the sweep angles are more acute than 4 and -14 (of course looking with a bare eye is original research...). The trailing edge wikilink could also be reinserted there, I guess. I leave it to other editors, and go on fixing typos on random articles :-) --Micraboy (talk) 10:01, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
