Picture Subject Verifiability
[edit]Hey y'all, I've added this picture (and to the other Wikis too) per the description on the Library of Congress website. I started getting quite confused after seeing other photos purported to be Empress Sunjeong on Wikimedia, so I've asked the LOC if they can verify the research done to identify this as Empress Sunmyeong. You can view the discussion/rant/confusion over there [[[User:Average Pennsylvanian|Average Pennsylvanian]] (talk) 17:24, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- Removed the image. Heard back from the LOC Prints and Photographs division and they've come to a conclusion that the LOC image description is incorrect. One of the big pieces of evidence was the the breast star on her chest, which per the Korean Medals website is the Order of the Auspicious Phoenix (서봉정장, 瑞鳳正章), which wasn't awarded until October 1905, which is a year after Sunmyeong's death. I've been informed the LOC is in the process of changing their description to Empress Sunjeong. Average Pennsylvanian (talk) 11:36, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
