I removed those two:

and reverted to the previous coa which is a scan of an official coa. See http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/cd).html for info or lack of on both those coa. The only coa that is mentionned in newspaper is the one I reverted to, it is also present on the President's website http://www.presidentrdc.cd/ ---moyogo 00:40, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Coat of Arms changed?

[edit]

The article says that the Coat of Arms has changed several times since 1997, and that a new (1999) design has a star on a blue background. This seems to refer to the flag, not the coat of arms. --Ezeu 20:03, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Zaire coat of arms is inaccurate

[edit]

The coat of arms of Zaire also featured a stone (like the 1997-1999 coat of arms did), according to Article 6 of the (former) Constitution of Zaire:

"Ses armoires se composent d'une tête de léopard, encadrée à gauche, d'une branche de palmier et d'une flèche, et à droite, d'une pointe d'ivoire et d'une lance reposant sur une pierre." -- 01:50, 15 December 2012‎ User:MinnesotanConfederacy

The book Guide to the Flags of the World by Mauro Talocci, revised and updated by Whitney Smith (ISBN 0-688-01141-1), p. 150, shows a small mysterious gray object below the spears (as in File:Coats of arms of Zaire 1971-1997.svg), but does not show anything else which could be a stone... That's interesting. Even the English translation of the Zairian constitution says "stone." Josh (talk) 20:27, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Coat of Arms from 1999

[edit]

From one stamp from the Democratic Republic of Congo from 1999 (Scott# 1490), it shows a coat of arms for which I have found little information. It has two white lions supporters, with center design not unlike that of the emblem Mozambique. It is a white cogwheel with a hoe and AK-47 crossed over a book with colors of sky blue, black and white (a yellow star radiating above all of this at the top of the cogwheel). Below this is an arc of dark blue with six yellow stars with a motto below this stating: Patrie, Liberté, Justice. I wonder if this coat of arms ever had any official status or was it just an artist's design? Anyone have more information? ElkandAcquerne (talk) 21:45, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It also appears on a 2001 postcard, I found it on Hubert-Herald. [1] SVG-image-maker (talk) 01:03, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
