mislabeled List + fanboyism

[edit]

Face it: this is a brief fansite essay followed by a trivia pile. The fanboy stuff is packed with typical unfounded pants-wetting claims — a major component of the iconic rock and roll image!!! The subsequent list is almost entirely swiped from a single source, scottymoore.net, specifically The Movie Guitars of Elvis Presley and The Performance Guitars of Elvis Presley.

I propose to chop the cruft, then relocate what's left to List of Elvis Presley's guitars. Really, it'll still likely need cuts, & the sole-sourcing does suggest that it's running rather close to an IP violation. (Eliminate everything swiped from that website, & 60% of the essay & most of the list would disappear.)

First thing to go: the ever-expandable list of "people who once (might have) said that Elvis influenced them." The article is about (duh) the man's guitars, NOT the man.

Next to go: garbage like

It is impossible to gauge the impact of that image on millions of young people around the world who were inspired to learn to play guitar after watching Presley in performance, on television, or in films.

Again: anything that strays away from describing actual physical guitars is likely irrelevant to the article. If "impossible" is hyperbole, then it doesn't belong here; if it's not, then it's speculation & doesn't belong here. If someone credible makes such a claim, then that should be explicitly (and only briefly) quoted.
