Can Nobody Do Math?
[edit]Someone born on May 24, 1883 would have had her 80th birthday on May 24, 1963, and would still be 80, not 82, on November 1, 1963. So which one is wrong - her date of birth, her age at death, or her sell-by date? And people wonder why everybody laughs at Wikipedia? This isn't something where geeks in tin-foil-lined hats should be engaging in edit wars, it's simply a matter of nobody bothering to read what they've written - and a good argument for having articles properly footnoted with reliable sources, so that readers can find out what the truth is. 12.193.238.99 (talk) 19:48, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Untitled
[edit]In the age of television, she has been replaced by an "African American" named Oprah Winfrey. (How strange is that?) GhostofSuperslum 16:54, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- She can never be replaced, especially by that monster. Algabal 11:19, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
quick question re: film credit
[edit]Is there any pertinent reason why her sole film credit mentions 9 co-stars? Seems like an unnecessary case of name-dropping. - IstvanWolf 22:55, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Elsa Maxwell and Perle Mesta
[edit]I removed the statement that Elsa Maxwell's nickname was "the hostest with the mostest," which dates to the original version of this article and has no citation. Perle Mesta was called "the hostess with the mostes'," and this nickname also appears on her Wikipedia article. She inspired Irving Berlin's musical Call Me Madam, which includes the song "The Hostess with the Mostes' on the Ball." Irving Berlin may have been alluding to earlier references to Elsa Maxwell having such a nickname; but all I've found online is an unsupported statement on this site. If a source can be cited, please restore what I've removed. — WFinch (talk) 13:16, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
