Sonya Kovalevskaya

[edit]

I realised after making this article that somebody may challenge the statement that she was the first woman to teach at university in Sweden by mentioning Sonya Kovalevskaya, who was professor in Stockholm from 1889. That is a valid objection, but "Stockholms högskola", as it was still known (and continued to be known for a long time) was still a small private-municipal institution which did not need to conform in every way to the same laws as the public universities in Lund and Uppsala.
