Category Fictional elephants

[edit]

@(Oinkers42) has removed x3 the category Fictional elephants from this page, reasoning that since the article has 'TV show' in its title, it is not about the puppet Elmer the Elephant.

It is arguable that Elmer the Elephant is not a real elephant, it's just a puppet, and therefore it's a fictional elephant, and so the category Fictional elephants should apply. And while the TV program has other aspects aside from Elmer, which get due coverage in the article, the fictional elephant known as Elmer is the star of the piece. My argument is more than "the article has 'TV show' in its title". The article, as it is written, is unequivocally about the television show. The leading character is mentioned, but that could be said about any other article about a work of fiction. Category:Television series about elephants makes for a much better fit. Granted, the article is more about the show than the character. But the character isn't mentioned elsewhere, so the categorisation under fictional elephants appears valid, per WP:NONDEF.
Category:Television series about elephants is arguable: are the elephants in that category predominantly real-life, predominantly fictional, or a mix? Note that fictional elephants is not a parent or child etc. of category TV series about elephants so its use is still warranted per WP:PARENTCAT. Chumpih t 17:28, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The YouTube clips

[edit]

Regardless of how long they have been on YouTube, they are still copyright violations and should be removed as soon as possible. (Oinkers42) (talk) 18:33, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What is the reason to believe the three YT-hosted pieces are copyright violations? For sure, if the links are per WP:COPYVIOEL, then we must remove immediately. But what are the indications of illegality? Chumpih t 18:38, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
