Disambiguation request
[edit]There should really be a disabiguation page. I'm pretty sure more people search for Duke Ellington than they do for a town.

- Town???
- Hahahahahahaha.

- I added a note about Duke Ellington. Proxima Centauri (talk) 08:01, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
- Comment: when the request was made, on 6 November 2005, this page was simply Ellington and the editor had a fair point. However if we look here we see that the page about the village was moved away from Ellington on 27 May 2006, thus answering the request. The note added today is therefore not regularly needed, with all due respect, as the confusion has been lifted. I propose to remove it and hope that this is OK. Too much detail?
[edit]In a series of edits today, @Proxima Centauri: added a "Notable residents" section whose sole current occupant is the self-admittedly dodgy churchman Keith O'Brien.
Whilst I can see that he is a notable resident, I do not understand why an article about a village requires the level of detail that we now have on O'Brien. My view is that it would be quite enough to have the first sentence, "Keith O'Brien is a cardinal accused of predatory sexual activity.". All the rest should be - and indeed is - in the article about the bloke himself. I feel that it is inappropriate here. Best wishes to all DBaK (talk) 20:29, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hello? Hellooooo? Is this thing on? <tap, tap, feedback, etc> Best wishes, DBaK (talk) 18:44, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
- I can hardly keep up with the fervid debate here but I've had a go at reducing the text a little further, (sorry, had not initially realized it had already been well-edited, thanks!) while expanding on what this charming man's doing here and when it was last current in an RS - that is, the source was a year+ ago so for all we know he's now in, er, Bermuda or wherever. Best wishes to all DBaK (talk) 15:03, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
- It looks like a reasonable compromise to me. Proxima Centauri (talk) 11:25, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

He came over all dead a year or more ago and the even slight usefulness of having him listed here has vanished in a puff of smoke, perhaps literally. I've zapped him. Happy to debate, but can't with the best (/worst) will in the world see the value in keeping him here. Best to all, DBaK (talk) 23:22, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
