Who criticized her?
[edit]I accessed the link offered as a reference for the line, "She has been criticized for comparing anthropogenic warming skeptics to Holocaust deniers." It is an article by Ellen Goodman herself in which she makes that comparison. Further, she did not refer to "anthropogenic warming skeptics, but to "anthropogenic warming deniers".
I don't doubt that she has been criticized by anthropogenic warming deniers, offended Jews, and perhaps others, any more than I doubt she has been applauded by scientists, environmentalists, and others for the same remark. But considering there is no reference provided for either, I will change the sentence to, "She has compared "anthropogenic warming deniers" to Holocaust deniers."
Even if citations are found to show that she has been either criticized or applauded for this or any of her views, I would suggest that it is only her views themselves that are appropriate to the wiki article. Stating that someone had been criticized (or applauded) for a view is not impartial, but a very commonly practiced, sly, and effective method of propaganda. It is one who wrote that sentence in the article who is criticizing her.
Although I find it necessary to make this change, I also feel that the article needs to be expanded with regard to her career and views in general. = JP —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.222.145.224 (talk) 02:45, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Substantive Edits
[edit]To the Wikipedia Community,
I am making substantive edits to this stub. I will be expanding and rewriting a few sections, mainly updating Ellen Goodman's page. I will be using relevant sources, i.e. a website dedicated to Ellen Goodman's work, complete with a biography. It will be listed in the "References" section.
This edit is an assignment for my CCT110 class.
Please provide feedback on the changes made, as well as improvements to further ensure the accuracy of this page. -Samina Sultana Samina1S (talk · contribs)
- I thank Samina for her contribution, and hope she will make further contributions in the future after reading the I want to edit Wikipedia pages. Apparently, Samina did not know that Talk entries need to end with four tildes, so the above entry was undated. It was added April 4, 2013. She also seems not to have noticed the Show Preview button, so she made 24 separate edits on this same day, and no edits since then. The edits so far make only localized improvements, and needn't have been flagged here with this Talk section. David Spector (talk) 16:01, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
