A great start. Not sure what you mean by your question about "kinship strategies," though she uses it in a particular way regarding the political and social strategies around creating kin (see her book). Looking forward to seeing this as you flesh it out. Christacraven (talk) 11:01, 28 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
1. Your lead is very good - it tells us who Andaya is, what she studies and where she studies, and where she received her education. Also, the use of links to other pages is good - it provides readers clarity especially when they might not know what all anthropology entails or what participant observation is, etc. I also like how you have provided her publications in bullet list, so that they are easily readable.
2. As far as changes, I would suggest altering the sentence "For her research she uses medical Anthropology and gender Anthropology" so that it reads more smoothly, like "she researches medicine and gender" or "her work has included the anthropology of gender and medicine". Something along those lines. I would also combine previous and current research, especially since current is a relative term. If they were combined, current could go at the end and could read like "as of (date), Andaya has been conducting research on" or similarly.
3. As far as most important improvement, I think the flow of the lead is important as it is often the first thing, if not only thing, that people read.
4. Like I said, I like the way you have listed out her publications and works. I will likely apply something similar to my article!

[User: amartin19] Emma, this is a great start! I think you did an excellent job at presenting the information in an unbiased way. All of your facts were supported by credible sources and appeared notable. In terms of areas of improvement, I think it would be beneficial to expand more on the personal life of the ethnographer. This could be a section that is titled "Early Life" or "Personal Life" so we can gather more knowledge about Andaya. It seems like you have sources that will provide you with more information about her research, books, future projects. I look forward to reading the rest! Hi! For academic notability the criteria includes significant impact on the scholarly discipline, which Elise Andaya has had. She is one of the only people to publish on Cuba's economic impact on family and reproduction which is important to feminist and medical anthropology. Her work has been reviewed and sighted in other academic papers. She was on the board of the AAA which is criteria for academic notability. She has won an award, had an honorable mention, and received a grant, from foundations that are reasonably well known. Her work is taught at Princeton. I don't understand why that isn't notable. Could someone explain?169.244.62.221 (talk) 15:28, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
