Birthplace: Finland or the Netherlands?
[edit]Some sources (for example:[1][2]) seem to claim that he was born in Tampere, Finland, when his father, Martin Reynders, played for FC Haka, a club headquartered near Tampere. But some sources say he was born in Zwolle, Netherlands. Which one is correct?
Also, if he's not a Finnish citizen, then he shouldn't be in categories like Category:Finnish people of Indonesian descent, Category:Finnish people of Dutch descent and Category:Finnish men's footballers. 2001:14BA:9C40:0:75D6:372E:872D:826F (talk) 22:43, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- Most often, we go with the simplest trustworthy source. FBref [1] lists Zwolle, as does Soccerway [2] and the Eredivisie website [3]. Anwegmann (talk) 23:33, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I wonder if his "de facto birthplace" is Tampere, but the "de jure birthplace" is Zwolle, because some sources seem to insist that he was born in Tampere, which would be a rather weird and random place, being in a different country and all. I mean, I don't know how it works in other countries, but here in Finland, a person's birthplace is determined by the municipality where the mother is a legal resident, not by the actual place of birth. So maybe Reijnders' mother was on a quick visit to Finland when she gave birth there, but quickly returned to her home(?) city of Zwolle. Anyway, since I don't have any sources for this and I'm not sure how these matters are handled on Wikipedia, I think we should wait for more information. 2001:14BA:9C40:0:2806:8F88:B911:430A (talk) 17:16, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
