article size
[edit]You could drop the species list and link to "Amphibian species of the world at AMNH."Pstevendactylus 15:02, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Just keep it as it is. Considering it is the largest vertebrate genus, it needs special consideration. --liquidGhoul 10:29, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Instead of ditching the list, how about having a separate page for the list? Hopefully, that will satisfy the article size recommendation. --Folajimi 00:35, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- There is no need to change it. The article size rule isn't set in concrete, it is just a reccomendation. As this is an extraordinary article (largest vertebrate genus) special considerations need to be used. If the article, which excludes the taxonomy section, gets larger, it may be good to do what Folajimi suggested, but in the article's current state, I don't see a reason. --liquidGhoul 00:52, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- Moving the species list to another page will just make the list on that page over the limit. Since there's so little text here, I don't see the point of that. Separating Craugastor to a separate page would reduce the list by 100 species or so.Pstevendactylus 01:53, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- Shall I tag this article for cleanup per liquidGhoul's response? --Folajimi 14:12, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- The list should be appendicised as a separate article. Bendž|Ť 13:36, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Subgenera
[edit]I'm currently reorganising a lot of species into the four subgenera described in Heinicke, M.P., W.E. Duellman & S.B. Hedges (2007). "Major Caribbean and Central American frog faunas originated by ancient oceanic dispersal". Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. 104 (24): 10092-7. DOI:10.1073/pnas.0611051104 . Also, I'm removing parentheses around the authorities as these should only be used for older authorities when followed by a subsequent authority. Bendž|Ť 11:04, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
See Hedges, S. B., W. E. Duellman, and M. P. Heinicke. 2008. New World direct-developing frogs (Anura: Terrarana): molecular phylogeny, classification, biogeography, and conservation. - What's the status of the reorganization? --Ljvillanueva (talk) 23:50, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Reorganization of Genus following Hedges et al 2008
[edit]I'm starting a reorganization of the Eleutherodactylus genus. I'll try to also fix the other genus, Craugastor and Pristimantis, for example.
