Town, not mountain

Why does -горск mean "town, not mountain"? Russian is my mother tongue and i don't understand it. --Amir E. Aharoni 18:03, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Encyclopedia Krugosvet, "-gorsk" in "Elektrogorsk" does not refer to mountains, although it does not explicitly say that it means "city" either.
