Quotation

[edit]

Does it really need to be there? Should it probably be in Rent's Wikiquote page? --JB Adder | Talk 21:10, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is definitely irrelevant to the article as a whole. I removed it in the course of doing other edits. Hbackman 00:24, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The price of electric cellos is due to change because of young cello players who want to explore different genres of music. - I had trouble parsing this sentence. Is the intended meaning "the price is sure to change because of increased interest in different styles..." or "the price (high or low) is because of changes in level of interest in different styles..."? The former seems like a hypothesis that doesn't belong in Wikipedia; the latter is not specific enough. RosinDebow 17:08, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Another reason why the electric cello is not as widely accepted as other electric instruments is its cost. Even the most inexpensive electric cellos are cost-prohibitive; even the most meager offerings in the electric cello world sell for over USD$400. For a decent electric cello, one may expect to pay well over USD$1000 (not including the amplifier)." This seems pretty wildly speculative, with no citation. Who would be discouraged by the cost and why? For whom is it cost-prohibitive? And what does this hypothetical cash-strapped audience do instead - acoustic cellos are at least as expensive, so is this a comparison to electric guitars? accordions? kazoos? 204.193.129.239 (talk) 18:38, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

80.229.123.246 (talk) 11:31, 20 August 2013 (UTC)i have got a decent one for £150 pounds, its not high end, but verified by the local luthier its certainly a good instrument, and cost less than an electric guitar i would acceptibly play. the brand is xinjiang.[reply]

Apocalyptica, Rasputina, etc.

[edit]

I do not think Apocalyptica, Rasputina, and similar bands belong in an article about electric cellos. They play on acoustic cellos that are amplified, not electric ones. TrogdorPolitiks (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 11:08, 15 November 2008 (UTC).[reply]

I know Bond uses electric instruments, not just acoustics with pick-ups. Not sure about the others you mentioned, though...

endorsement

[edit]

not sure if the end endorsement really belongs on wikipedia. "For more information on an electric cellist who has been performing since 1989 on an instrument built by Tucker Barrett of Vermont, go to www.jeffreykrieger.com."80.229.123.246 (talk) 11:35, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

non-piezo pickups

[edit]

This could be worth a mention, as magnetic pickups are being developed. source: http://www.uli-boesking.de/rebo/80.229.123.246 (talk) 11:41, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
