references or just external links?
[edit]why are these here as references (or as external links)?
"Eric Bloom biography Tim Buckley and friends (photos) "Friendly Gay Manhattan" New York Times "Streetscapes" from November 18, 1988 The Blog "It's all the streets you crossed not so long ago" with many quotes from people involved in the Electric Circus"
eric bloom... if one digs a bit on the linked site, one gathers that mr. bloom was somehow involved with "blue oyster cult" which merits a passing reference in the wiki "electric circus" article.
tim buckley... who is he? linke site is page of photos, several of which appear to be exteriors of site of "electric circus" at some unknown date.
friendly gay manhattan. skipped this link
new york times "streetscapes"... linked article is dated 1998 and NOT 1988. seems to cover how space was used at one point, but is not how space is today (having just visited a retailer at current site several days ago).
the blog...skipped this link.
i think there is some justifiable reason for some to remain as links, but the relevance needs to be established on the wiki article rather than send a user off on a "perhaps relevant" goose chase. --98.116.115.220 (talk) 14:40, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
I think the photos from Tim Buckley's page that show the front of 19-25 St Marks Pl. are relevant. It would be better to have them posted on the article though. Until someone posts older images of the building, those 3 pictures are all we have for reference. The images look to be from between 2000 and 2003. The Liquid Sky banner went up after the 12 step meetings ended and the rehab moved upstate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.73.13.42 (talk) 04:20, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Other circuses
[edit]I goggled around and found references to three notable nightclubs named Electric Circus:
- New York, US
- Manchester, England (Joy Division and Sex Pistols played there [1])
- Toronto, Canada (tv show Electric Circus is named after it)

Bands that played
[edit]User:Beyond My Ken removed Jefferson Airplane and the Doors as bands that wouldn't have played here. All bands should have a reference to tour dates to avoid future mistakes like this. The Doors didn't play here "before they were famous", in fact they never played here at all. There was a hoax promotion that they would play in August 1969. Since this is after The Soft Parade was released, it is long after they were famous. In August 1969 they were idle with all band members accounted for in California, between the last date of their US Tour (Seattle, July) and the first date of their European tour (September, Edinburgh, Scotland). SchmuckyTheCat (talk)
As I remember it, the house band was called "Circus Maximus" ... it was some unknown band with a name change. (I worked the sound board when EC opened, and most of the summer of '67). rchrd (talk) 23:52, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
