President

[edit]

Do someone know how exactly is the president elected? Is it a first round or two round system?--Aréat (talk) 12:52, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Aréat: Hi Aréat, Sri Lanka uses instant-runoff voting to elected its president but there's has never been an instance where a "run-off" count has been needed as a candidate has reached 50% in the first count in all elections since the introduction of directly elected president in the 1980s.--Obi2canibe (talk) 12:45, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Obi2canibe: Thank you! Would you happen to have a source, so that we can add it to the article? --Aréat (talk) 13:19, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Aréat: This source has been used in 2015 Sri Lankan presidential election.--Obi2canibe (talk) 14:32, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I added it. --Aréat (talk) 15:05, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
