Spanish dialect

[edit]

It would be nice if the article covered linguistics too. I read on Reddit that he has a heavy accent and Latin American speakers said that they understood almost nothing. --Ysangkok (talk) 18:14, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Ysangkok: Are there any reliable sources covering this? Can't use Reddit because it's WP:USERGENERATED. -- intgr [talk] 15:30, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

He just happens to have a thick Andalusian accent. Some bits and pieces of it may also be hard to understand for some slow-witted Spaniards too.--83.49.159.33 (talk) 19:41, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please change "footage from the interview was used by the Egyptian people" to "footage from the interview was used by the Muslim Brotherhood" because it's closer to the source, El Mundo in this case.

Elfenhandelefant (talk) 01:02, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done "Hermanos Musulmanes", as used by El Mundo, is, indeed, Muslim Brotherhood. - Arjayay (talk) 08:59, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mention to 18-25 community

[edit]

El Risitas has a famous notoriety in some frenchs websites as 18-25 forums. I guess it would be a good idea to mention it because many people support him.

Edit war over birth date

[edit]

@CROUS: Given the edit war in the article about the birth date and the lack of reliable sources provided by either side, I'm removing the dates from the article. One edit did provide https://www.facebook.com/elrisitas.juanjoya as a source, but it's not clear that this account actually belongs to the person and many people use fake birthday on Facebook. -- intgr [talk] 16:57, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Yamaguchi先生: thanks for adding the template to article's header. Since then multiple references have been added, do you think the template can be removed? Gikü (talk) 19:12, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Name change

[edit]

The article name was just unilaterally changed from El Risitas to Juan Joya Borja. Looking at Google El Risitas seems to be consistently more popular than his full name, and the previous title is consistent with Wikipedia:STAGENAME. Feedback from spanish editors would be appreciated. jonas (talk) 01:58, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, i'm not exactly sure why the change was made without WP:CONSENSUS, because we usually use the WP:COMMONNAME. Mcguy15 (talk) 03:26, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(comment from Spain) Yeah, here he is known as "El Risitas", all the news headlines are using his stage name. Alexcalamaro (talk) 04:54, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Restored original title per WP:COMMONNAME. Gikü (talk) 11:22, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please add Wikipedia link to vascular disease in death section. Zoldik077 (talk) 03:28, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done Added link to "vascular problem". Alexcalamaro (talk) 04:48, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
WAT … It was a leg amputated due to diabetes. Merely saying “vascular problems“ is disingeneous and misleading. — 109.42.177.239 (talk) 05:05, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The KEKW history

[edit]

El Risitas was also famous for the KEKW — Preceding unsigned comment added by UltraJackNotEvenFound (talkcontribs) 19:26, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong date

[edit]

based on a television interview recorded in 2001 on Jesús Quintero's TV show Ratones coloraos — how is that possible if the show was first aired in late 2002? According to an article from Guardian, which is used as a reference, the interview is from June 2007. --Hektor Absurdus (talk) 20:33, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why is the diabetes nit mentioned?

[edit]

His “vascular problems” were caused by his (type 1?) diabetes. (A Wikipedia in another language still has a source, I think.) So leaving that out is really weird. I’d check if there isn’t a Coca-Cola troll going around, editing articles like that. It wouldn’t be the first time… — 109.42.177.239 (talk) 05:03, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
