Description section
[edit]The description section should be converted to prose from the bullet pointed list. Prose is the standard form for both biology and paleontology articles.--Kevmin § 17:54, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- I am used to point lists, and if you think it is not the standard you will have to mention this on all dinosaur articles with that section. As I am from the dinosaur wikiproject, I have become accustomed to bullet-point listing of distinguishing characteristics. Also, could you prove your point about prose with an article that actually uses it, as I have come across no such article, even though I often search through dinosaur, parareptile and mammal articles? - Actually, the bullet point lists were only recently (within the last year or two) introduced by Evangelos Giakoumatos, before that only prose was used. See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Evangelos_Giakoumatos#dinosaur_diagnosis FunkMonk (talk) 00:11, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
- Oh thanks for telling me that. Iainstein (talk) 00:33, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

- My first suggestion is to take a look at the Featured articles section of WP:Dinosaurs (Such as Tyrannosaurus and Massospondylus) and WP:Birds (Dodo, Archaeopteryx, and Mascarene Parrot). Rarely are bullet points accepted in Featured article content, and as noted they are very recent addtions instituted by Evangelos Giakoumatos. Also to be considered is that this is to be a general encyclopedia, so writing, lists should be as accessible to readers that do not have much if any knowledge of the subject.--Kevmin § 05:08, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
- Prose should be used, there's no real utility to bullet point lists, and prose forces editors to make the content more understandable in context, and to make sure it is relevent in context. This is why most pop culture sections are bullet lists--there's no way to make them prose without making it clear that they are irrelevant to the topic. Dinoguy2 (talk) 12:46, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
