[edit]GetRektLLLLL The invasion took place more than just Harar but also involved Aussa Sultanate and local Somali & Oromo agro-pastoralist tribesmen in the area. In fact, this page even includes Zeila and Berbera which are based in modern-day Somaliland so I think a better name needs to be proposed something like Horn of Africa maybe. - The Emirate of Harar consisted more than the current city of Harar; it was much more expanse and was a result of dealings between Oromo tribespeople agreeing to the suzerainty of Harari emirs. The Emirate of Harar was the result o dealings with many different tribes and making similar agreements, and the reason why Harar was the de-facto capital of the Islamic Horn. And when Pasha came, their goal was to take over the Emirate of Harar, and its surrounding regions which were unofficially within the influence of the Emirate of Harar. But you do make a good point about the port cities being independent, but Pasha needed to take them in order to get to Harar, which was the goal of the expedition. - Harar was never the de-facto capital of the Islamic Horn. There were other Islamic cities in HOA that were more influecial and larger. The Emirate of Harar of the 19th century is not the same as the one that broke away from Aussa Imamate. It was largely a city-state that had influence on its surrounding neighbours but nothing beyond that since there were more established and larger Sultanates that made up Hararghe and western Somaliland that were also invaded such as Isaaq Sultanate and Aussa Sultanate. That is why it's preferrable to mention the Horn instead of limiting it to Harar. Isma'ili Pasha goal was to conquer Ethiopia in general, have a read. [1] Ayaltimo 05:15, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- A preferable name and geographically correct term to cover eastern Ethiopia (Hararghe) and western Somaliland would be "Egyptian invasion of the Eastern Horn of Africa". What do you think? Ayaltimo 05:33, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
