Proposed move

[edit]

So, I was adding a few WLs to Geoffrey Studdert Kennedy and started to investigate his (unnamed) grandfather, Dean of Clonfert. Deans of Clonfert correctly gives his name, but the source was completely wrong (now fixed). Further investigation brought me to this article, but confusion reigned until I came across the following entries:

  • Prebendaries of Clonmethan: 1846. ROBERT MITCHELL KENNEDY, M,A. ("Edward," by mistake, in Volume II.) ; resigned, in 1848, on being appointed to the Precentorship. (p. 60)
  • Precentors of St Patrick's, Dublin: 1850. ROBERT MITCHELL KENNEDY, M.A., Dean of Clonfert, and Prebendary of Clonmethan ; presented by the Crown ; instituted, July 10; installed, same day; died, July 21, 1864, at his benefice of Mountrath, Queen's County. (p. 55)
  • Deans of Clonfert: 1850. ROBERT MITCHELL KENNEDY, M.A. ; died, July 21, 1864, at Mountrath. (p. 121), all from
    • Cotton, Henry (1878). Fasti Ecclesiae Hibernicae : the succession of the prelates and members of the Cathedral bodies of Ireland: Supplement containing a continuation of appointments up to the disestablishment of the Church of Ireland on December 31, 1870. Collated with the original diocesan registries by Charles Philip Cotton, B.A., Dublin. Dublin: Printed and published for the author, by James Charles & Son. p. 60.

Also, Cotton, Henry (1850). Fasti Ecclesiae Hibernicae: The succession of the prelates and members of the Cathedral Bodies of Ireland, Volume 4: the Province of Connaught. Dublin: Hodges and Smith. p. 180. says 'Edward Mitchell Kennedy' was Precentor of St. Patrick's, Dublin, and Rector of Mountrath, (County Laois), Diocese of Leighlin.

Based on this info, I propose a move to Robert Kennedy (priest), with updated info and correct refs cited here. MinorProphet (talk) 02:47, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
