Birth and death years
[edit]source? VIAF libraries/authorities have almost universal agreement on 1858–1927, not 1856–1929. Schissel | Sound the Note! 19:17, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- See:
- General Register Office. England and Wales Civil Registration Indexes, London, England, April–June 1929, p. 376
- Wearing, J. P. "Jakobowski, Edward [or Edouard]" in The London Stage, 1890–1899: A Calendar of Plays and Players, The Scarecrow Press (1976)
- this from Andrew Lamb confirms the years. Lamb is the authority on this. What authoritative sources, exactly, is the VIAF list relying on? -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:45, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- The probate record makes it certain that he died on 29 April 1929, and both the 1861 census and 1891 census are consistent with the birth date given. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:41, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
Not just one I should suppose, since it's a compilation of different library authorities- see VIAF. The primary ones I think are LoC (which interestingly quotes Wikipedia-as-of-2008 for dates)-
btw according to http://musicsack.com/PersonFMTDetail.cfm?PersonPK=100006125 his birth name was Edward Belleville (MusicSack quoting and weighing 11 sources that probably don't entirely agree with one another). Doesn't give a death date, though. Hrm.
Ok, yes, the VIAF evidence is 6 years outdated. My bad, my apologies and oops. Do change back, sorry... (that Belleville seems to have been his born and earlier name is interesting tho'...) Schissel | Sound the Note! 05:32, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
- The census data shows that his father's name is Jakobowski, so MusicSack is just wrong. -- Ssilvers (talk) 14:48, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
