A fact from Edward G. Faile appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 6 November 2020 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
@RoySmith:, I don't think the marriage of his daughter is sufficiently relevant to this article, because the article is about Edward, not the "Faile family". Am I simply not aware of some guidelines? Graywalls (talk) 23:05, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Graywalls, Thanks for your note, and your input to the article. I see your point, but I also think it's closely enough related to the main subject to be worth including. May I suggest a compromise? I've submitted this for GA review; let's just wait and see what the reviewer says, and I'll be happy to go with whatever they suggest. If it doesn't come up in the review, feel free to solicit the reviewer's opinion on it. Does that seem reasonable? -- RoySmith(talk)23:26, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. Since I've been cleaning a number of biography articles and I am actually curious about what the general consensus is, so I asked over at Wikiprojects Biography. 10:11, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

... that Edward G. Faile raised prize-winning cattle in The Bronx? Source: "Several of his cattle won first prize at shows, including Cayuga, Huron, and Queen Ann.[1]

Interesting:
QPQ: Done.
Overall: Article promoted to GA on 10-October, the hook is interesting and is accepted on AGF, however the article mentions lot of similar facts with different sources. Roller26 (talk) 20:31, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
RoySmith, as I could not access the offline book for the hook, I was merely remarking the fact that Edward G. Faile worked and lived in The Bronx, had a farm, bred cattle, and was president of the agricultural society are confirmed by different sources as well, hence the hook can be accepted as AGF. Roller26, Oh, I see. The link in the reference doesn't work for you? That's curious. It works for me. I'm guessing from your user page that you're in India? Possibly the preview isn't available in every country (I'm in the US). In any case, that verifies the animals' names, that they were bred and owned by Faile, and that Faile live in "West Farms, West Chester, US". Which I suppose means ALT1 (which I've just added) would be more accurate. -- RoySmith(talk)21:37, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
RoySmith, I have full access to the 1878 edition but no access to the 1891 edition even with a US proxy. I tried searching by the cattle names in the 1878 but couldn't find the three mentioned in the article. If its available in 1878 edition, you can direct me to it, or I can accept the hook ALT1 as AGF or you can ask for a second review. Roller26 (talk) 22:04, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
