Suggest split
[edit]@Nikkimaria: can you please elaborate on your edit summary "hide - too much detail for article about individual not the family, suggest splitting off"? What would you call such a split off article, and how would it meet notability criteria? Schwede66 18:16, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- This article is about one particular individual - Edward Bishop - not his entire family. While it is reasonable to mention siblings, and perhaps even their marriages, the amount of detail that was present here seems to me to be undue. You have a few options to address this:
- Create an article about "The Pilgrims" mentioned here, a potentially notable group
- Create an article about the Bishop family more generally, although you might have trouble deciding where that family stops and another, like the Alports, begins
- Create articles about individual notable family members - Charles at least would be notable, quite likely others mentioned would be as well
- If you feel none of those options are viable (because of notability or other considerations), then simply remove the content entirely. Nikkimaria (talk) 21:11, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- The Pilgrims is certainly a topic that meets notability. There are about 800 people that belong to that group. Whilst that would make a good article and we should have it, wouldn't we have the same problem with the amount of detail to be undue, considering that it's such a large group of people, and dozens of them having articles already (thus them being notable)? Schwede66 22:20, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Well, if dozens of them have articles already, perhaps we should go with option 3 and add a few more? Nikkimaria (talk) 01:21, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
