The single reference currently in this article, to <www.edmundgordon.com>, does not seem to function, at when I tried it. Tim Ross (talk) 13:36, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The other reference does not work at this time either, meaning this article is currently unreferenced. In addition, it does not seem to me to meet Wikipedia's neutrality standards; it's full of sentences like 'A scholarly life as a minister, clinical and counseling psychologist, research scientist and the list goes on.', which portray this man in the best possible light, and are somewhat badly written as well. The article needs a major rewrite, if it's worth keeping at all. Terraxos (talk) 02:11, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

But he is or has been a minister, clinical and counseling psychologist, research scientist, etc. That would mean your objection is to the word "Scholarly," which means: "a learned person (especially in the humanities); someone who by long study has gained mastery in one or more disciplines." Certainly looking at this man's biography and accomplishments he fits the definition of a scholar. However, if calling someone a scholar indicates bias then no one on Wikipedia should be called a "scholar." Next, you say the article is "full of sentences" like this. I disagree. The only the sentence/word that could be construed this way is saying Gordon is "preeminent" in his field, which, within his field of study he is demonstrably preeminent. Since these seem to be minor quibbles, why not just substitute scholarly and preeminent with more neutral words? Mbwfellow (talk) 19:10, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I cleaned up the article by moving some info around and adding a few more references. It could still be cleaned up further and expanded by adding more references and a more complete list of the positions he had held. Also I'm curious if Lewis Gordon is in anyway related. I have added/changed 4 things to the original article on Edmund W. Gordon. One paragraph is listed under the "Professional Life" section and regards Gordon's work with Head Start. I thought this was important to include because it wasn't addressed very well in the original article. The next thing I added was a paragraph about his mentors. This was interesting because of his work with W. E. B. Dubois, so I thought it was worth including. The next thing I changed was separating his personal life section from his professional life section. I also added a section about his parents, which also involved a little bit of the social context of his childhood. 21:24, 9 December 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mkbostic (talkcontribs)

Simone*Browne (talk) 16:09, 2 March 2016 (UTC) Last April I added the details on the naming of the Susan G. and Edmund W. Gordon & Charles W. and Frances B. White Building during an edit-a-thon with my class. I will add more details this week.[reply]
