Knife

[edit]

In the portrait of EC there seems to be a knife sticking out of his breast - does this represent the "quartering" part of his sentence?--Shtove 16:58, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.123.215.180 (talk) 09:53, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tone...

...is obviously the result of having taken this from EB 1911. It's very... flowery? 68.39.174.238 (talk) 23:28, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly because I am old, I find the style as I see it in 2015 concise and generally very good. Personal taste thing, no doubt. Fergus Wilde (talk) 12:07, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lee

The foreman of the jury was a Calvinist called Lee. The names of the other members of the jury are not known to us. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.170.187.17 (talk) 11:19, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edward? Campion

[edit]

As of 21 Apr 2024, the comment on Hanmer's work, The Jesuites Banner, 1581, states that is was written against Edward Campion, a pseudonym for Gerard Edwards. But Edwards wasn't ordained until 1587, and didn't come to public attention until his return to England and his capture that same year. This almost has to refer instead to Edmund Campion, who was martyred in 1581. Does anyone have a clear reference? JohnGHissong (talk) 04:29, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
