Some Personal Information Needed for this Article
[edit]Edgar Heilbronner's career began in the eidgenössische technische hochschule in Zürich where he and his wife, Ruth, lived. Then he was offered a postion at the University of Basel and he finally decided to move.
This really should be filled in by some of his Swiss colleagues of that time. I had difficulty in putting some of this into with "Edit" and got the list of Symbols seen above; this should be repaired.

Aromaticity and Edgar Heilbronner
[edit]The article states that Edgar Heilbronner discovered Möbius Aromaticity. This is not correct.
Edgar heilbronner's model involved including the twist of Möbius systems in obtaining the electronic energy but no corresponding twist for Hückel systems. This led him to conclude that the Möbius systems could never be of lower energy than the Hückel counterparts. His Möbius systems were thus never aromatic.
He missed the point of comparable systems with equal overlaps except for sign where then 4N systems would be favored by the orbital system while the 4N+2 electron systems would be favored by the Hückel overlaps.
This turned out in 1966 to be embodied in the Möbius-Hückel Concept which is now an article in Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hezimmerman (talk • contribs) 20:00, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
